We want to be upfront with you about some changes we’re making to plan limits, why we made them, and what it means for your account.
What’s Changing
The following monthly limits are being updated across paid plans:

Why We’re Making These Changes
We want to be honest: running Orwellix isn’t getting cheaper.
The AI models and APIs that power the grammar checker, plagiarism checker, and AI Assistant all carry per-use costs that have grown significantly over the past year. For several months, these infrastructure costs have been eating into our margins and in some months, we’ve operated at a loss. Continuing at the previous limits was simply not sustainable.
We explored every option before adjusting the limits: optimizing caching, renegotiating API contracts, improving how we batch requests. Those efforts helped, but not enough to close the gap on their own.
Reducing limits was the last lever we pulled, but it was the only one that let us keep Orwellix running without raising prices.
We Still Believe These Limits Are Fair
Before making this decision, we compared our updated limits against what other writing tools in this space offer and our users needs at similar price points. Even with the reductions, Orwellix’s plans remain competitive:
- 100,000 grammar characters/month on the Pro plan is more than enough for most individual writers producing several long-form pieces per week.
- 300,000 grammar characters/month on Premium covers high-volume professional use.
- 10,000 / 30,000 plagiarism words/month aligns with the industry standard for plans at this price range.
- 120 AI credits/month (Pro) and 300 AI credits/month (Premium), combined with our efficient 1-credit Ask Mode and 2-credit Agent Mode, gives you meaningful AI assistance throughout the month without exhausting your balance quickly.
We ran the numbers on real usage patterns from our user base. The vast majority of active users are well within the new limits every month. If you’re in the minority who regularly hit higher numbers, we’re sorry, these changes will affect you more, and we genuinely appreciate your heavy use of the platform.
What Doesn’t Change
- Pricing: $24/month Pro, $39/month Premium (and yearly rates) stay the same.
- All features: every tool, mode, and workflow feature remains available on both plans.
- Ask Mode / Agent Mode credit costs: still 1 credit and 2 credits respectively.
- Support SLA, trash retention, storage limits - all unchanged.
