HOW IT WORKS

From Draft to Clear, Readable Writing in Three Steps

Readability analysis runs in real time, so you can see and fix issues while you write, not after you've already published.

01

Write, and see your score update

As you write or paste content into Orwellix, your readability score calculates in real time. The score, grade level, word count, and estimated reading time update in the sidebar as your document changes.

02

Hard sentences are highlighted in your text

Very hard-to-read sentences are highlighted red. Hard-to-read sentences are highlighted yellow. The highlights appear directly in your editor, you don't need to scroll through a separate list to find the problem areas.

03

Fix with AI or edit manually

Click any highlighted sentence to see why it's hard to read. Use the "Simplify Using AI" button to have the AI Agent simplify it instantly, with a tracked change you review before it's applied, or rewrite it yourself.

THE HIGHLIGHT SYSTEM

Five Layers of Analysis, All Visible at Once

Every highlight color represents a different type of issue. Each has its own toggle so you can focus on one category at a time without the others getting in the way.

Red

Very Hard to Read

Sentences that are very long, densely structured, or contain multiple subordinate clauses. These are the highest priority to fix, as they're most likely to cause readers to stop and re-read.

Yellow

Hard to Read

Sentences that are long, complex than ideal but not as severe as red sentences. Worth reviewing and simplifying where possible, particularly for general-audience content.

Purple

Grammar & Spelling Issues

Grammar errors and spelling mistakes. Clicking a purple highlight shows the issue and a suggested correction. Apply it with one click or dismiss it if it's intentional.

Blue

Writing Style Issues

Adverbs, passive voice constructions, qualifier phrases, and filler words. These don't make your writing wrong, they make it weaker. Blue highlights help you identify patterns to reduce.

Green

Spelling Errors

Spelling errors tracked separately from grammar issues for a cleaner view. The sidebar shows a count and an eye toggle, so you can hide or show spelling highlights independently.

REAL WRITERS, REAL RESULTS

What Writers Say About Readability Analysis

★★★★★

"I write for a health and wellness blog. My editor kept telling me my articles were 'too academic.' Orwellix's readability score showed me exactly which sentences were the problem. I went from a grade 14 to a grade 9 reading level in one editing pass."

Sarah K., Health Content Writer
★★★★★

"The 'Simplify Using AI' button in the red highlights is one of those features that seems small but changes your workflow completely. Instead of manually rewriting complex sentences, I click, review the suggestion, and accept. My editing time is half what it used to be."

Marcus O., UX Writer
★★★★★

"I teach academic writing and recommend Orwellix to my students specifically for the readability analysis. Seeing sentences highlighted red is an immediate, visual signal that the writing needs work. Students respond to that much better than a single score at the end."
